This post's song is by 张震岳 (Zhang1Zhen4Yue4) and is called 思念是一种病 （si1nian4 shi1 yi1zhong3 bing4）, which translates to ‘longing is a type of illness’. The song comes off of an album released in 2007, but this singer, who is 38, has been recording albums since the mid-90s. For the past four posts we have been looking at songs by some of the most popular and well known singers in China and indeed all of Asia, so this week, as a change of pace, instead of coming from a famous singer, this song comes from a relatively well known TV series. The TV show, which was made to last one season and aired in the fall of last year, is called 男人帮, and follows the often comedic efforts of three male friends to find love in present-day Shanghai. The main actor of the series is a famous Chinese movie actor, 孙红雷, while the rest of the cast members are very charismatic too. All in all, the show (which can be quite moody and atmospheric in addition to comedic) is quite entertaining, good practice for listening, and provides some interesting thoughts and insights about modern dating culture in China as well. This song is by Leehom Wang 王力宏 （wang2li4hong2), a Taiwan-based, American-born (Rochester New York) singer, whose career in Taiwan began in the mid-nineties. At that time he was still finishing his undergraduate studies at Williams College, a very prestigious liberal arts college in Massachusetts. Along with 周杰伦 and 陈奕迅，he is one of the most popular singer-celebrities throughout all of Asia and stars in movies as well. The style of his music has varied greatly throughout his career and has ranged from hip-hop, to jazz, and rock, while he has also made use of traditional Chinese instruments. This song was released in 2007 by another enormously popular singer from Hong Kong, 陈奕迅 （Eason Chan）. In comparison to last post's superstar, Eason Chan at 37 years old represents a younger generation of Hong Kong celebrities, and this song, the title of which is 好久不见 (long time no see)， is a bit easier to learn, but no less moving, than the last song. Also, I do not think it would be exaggerated to say that among young people in China, this is one of a group of new classics that is almost universally known.

The first song in this series is by perhaps the most well-known song by one of the most famous singers in not only all of China, but all of Asia. The singer is Jacky Cheung (张学友，zhang1xue2you3），and the song is 祝福, which was released in 2003 and is already a classic. A Hong Kong native, the legendary Jacky Cheung is already over 50 years old but is still performing in concerts and has a career as an actor as well. He is considered to be one of the 'four heavenly kings' (a reference to the four heavenly kings of Buddhism) of the Hong Kong music scene, and has been acclaimed with the nickname ’歌神‘，which can be translated as 'song god'.
